We're going to be taking a look at the best trailer wiring harness here for our 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.So for our Jeep Wrangler here, we have two options. So you could see here, we have our Tekonsha T-1 vehicle wiring harness, and over here we have our Curt-T connector vehicle wiring harness and they do look very similar, but let's go ahead and go over the differences as well.So as you can see, our wiring harnesses here are both very, very similar. There's very little differences. However, I have pointed out a few things during the installation of each product that lead me to believe one is better than the other.I'm going to be going with the Tekonsha T-1 vehicle wiring harness here, and the reason for that is as follows: No. 1, We take a look here, our converter boxes, it's going to be a much lower profile, a much smaller footprint, if you will, with our Tekonsha option when we compare it to our Curt option.Now, this isn't going to be a huge deal for our Jeep here because we have a good amount of space behind the taillights, but it's definitely something to keep in mind when we're trying to find a spot to mount either one.So another thing I like to point out here is that our dust cap is actually molded to the trailer connector with our Tekonsha option here whereas it's separate here for our Curt harness.Now, it can be pretty easy to lose these things and it's just a much more seamless design and look, which is why I prefer the Tekonsha T-1.And, furthermore, our Tekonsha wiring harness actually has a higher amp drawl rating than our Curt-T connector harness. more

Now, our Curt wiring harness is going to provide us with a four-pole flat trailer connector so we can have all the required lights to safely and securely get down the road with our trailer, like our taillights, our turn signals, and our brake lights.Now, on our application, we decided to mount our wiring on the outside using a four-pole bracket. That way, it's easily accessible when we hook up our trailer. However, keep in mind that the current wiring is designed to stay on the inside of the vehicle until you're ready to use it, but it's not that hard to get it on the outside, especially if you want it by your receiver tube. And the wiring is going to come with a dust cover. And if you do mount it on the outside, that's a really nice thing. more

Hi there Cherokee owners, today on our 2019 Jeep Cherokee we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Curt's four pole flat trailer connector vehicle wiring harness.This four pole wiring harness is going to provide you with all the necessary lighting signals to keep you DOT compliant in all States, this includes your left turn signal, right turn signal, tail lamps, and brake lamps. One of the things that I really like about this harness is the included module. The module will intercept all of the lighting signals from your factory wiring, and then the module produces the signals that go to our four pole flat trailer connector. What's nice about this is if there's any faults on your trailer wiring the module can shut down that circuit to prevent any damage from occurring.In the event the modules unable to shut the circuit down in time, our module has its own dedicated fuse. The fuse will open and prevent any damage from occurring on our vehicle's wiring. We simply need to just repair our trailer and then replace the fuse.And you're probably wondering, do I even need wiring on my Cherokee That just depends on what you're going to be using it for. more

Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2017 Jeep Renegade- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Jeep Renegade, we're going to be installing Curt's T-connector vehicle wiring harness, part number C56274. This wiring harness is going to provide you with a four pole flat trailer connector that'll allow you to get all of your necessary lighting back on your trailer. This will include your left turn signal, right turn signal, tail lamps, and brake lamps, so you'll be DOT compliant in all states.The control box here plugs inline to both your left and right side tail lamps, receives the signals, and the control box itself then sends it to our four pole flat connector. What's great about this is that it's protecting our vehicle because the output's only coming from our control box and not from our tail lamp circuits. The control box has its own fuse and power cable that's run up to the battery, so it's completely self-sufficient. When you're ready to sue your cable, you simply drape it over the back, make sure to avoid the latch for your lift gate, close your lift gate. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2015 Jeep Compass- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Jeep Compass we're here to take a look at, and I'm going to show you how to install, the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connectors, part number 118539. This is what our wiring looks like when it's installed. This is going to give us all our proper lighting functions to safely tow our trailer. It's going to give us our right turn signal, left turn signal, our brake lights, our running lights, and our ground.The nice thing about this wiring harness is it's going to have an attached dust cap. Because the hitch is up behind the fascia, it's hard to put any kind of bracket to hold our wiring in place, but because this dust cap is attached, you can double it as a holder when you're not using your wiring to help keep it from dragging the ground. Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Speaker 1: Today, on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're gonna be installing Curt's T-connector vehicle wiring harness for factory tow packages, with a seven-way and four-pole flat connector. Part number C55774.This harness and connector package is gonna give you a four-pole and seven-pole connector for the back of your Grand Cherokee. This will give you all the necessary lighting, out of both your seven-way and four-pole, which includes your left turn signal, right turn signal, brake lamps, and tail lamps. And, additionally, on your seven-way connector, you're gonna get an auxiliary power wire, brake signal wire for a break controller, and a backup light wire.Your seven-way has a spring-loaded lid, with a seal on the inside to prevent any moisture from entering it, causing corrosion.Your four-pole has a dust cap to help keep out moisture and corrosion, as well.This is a great option if you've got multiple trailers. So, if you've just got a little trailer for hauling around some gear, your four-pole's there. Whenever you got a big boat you wanna pull behind you that's got a breaking system on it, you can use your seven-way, and you're all set.We'll begin our installation by installing a long bracket, so we have a place to mount our seven-pole connector. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're going to be installing Hopkins 7-way and 4-way trailer connectors, part number 30955. This 7-pole connector's going to plug directly into your factory wiring harness, providing you with all the necessary trailer signals from both a 4-pole flat connector and a 7-pole connector. Both connectors are going to provide you with the necessary lighting signals, such as your left turn, right turn, brake lamp and stop lamp signals. Your 7-pole's going to have some additional wiring in it for a brake controller signal, auxiliary power and backup lamps. The 7-pole connector has a spring-loaded door with a seal located on the inside to keep out moisture and corrosion.The 4-pole connector has a dust cap that can be removed and reinstalled to help keep out dirt, debris and moisture. This is ideal if you have multiple different trailers. more

Part number is 118384.Here's what your wiring harness is going to look like. You can see, here's the four full connector, where after this is going to work with any standard four flat trailer connector. It's going to give us our right turn signal and brake, our left turn signal and brake, ground wire gives us our running lights, and the white wire is going to give us ground to make sure everything is connected properly together.You see where it gets its name.
